Problem with your viewing card

If you’re seeing the error ‘There is a problem with your viewing card’ follow the steps below:

  1. Switch your Sky+HD box to Standby, and remove your viewing card.
  2. Wait 30 seconds then turn your Sky box off at the mains
  3. Leave the box turned off for 60 seconds
  4. Switch the box back on at the mains
  5. Do not insert the viewing card, but leave the box on standby for 3 minutes
  6. Press Sky on your remote control to bring the box back on and go to Channel 447 (Motors TV)
  7. When you see a message asking you to insert your viewing card, re-insert it (chip facing down, and chip first) into the viewing card slot

Viewing card not authorised

If you’re seeing the error ‘This viewing card not authorised’ first ensure your Sky+HD box is connected to broadband or an active telephone line and then follow the steps below.

If you cannot connect your Sky+HD box to broadband or an active telephone line contact your Pay TV provider on the customer service number listed above.

  1. Press Services on your remote control to display the Options menu
  2. Press the right arrow to highlight Settings and press Select to highlight the Picture menu
  3. Press 0, 1 and Select to see the Installer menu
  4. Then press the right arrow to highlight ‘New Install’ and press Select.
  5. You will see a message stating ‘Ensure that the satellite dish is correctly aligned and connected and the viewing card is inserted’
  6. Press Select to continue.
  7. You will see a screen showing signal strength and quality
  8. Press Select to continue
  9. You will then see the message ‘Callback in progress’
  10. If the callback is successful you will see the message ‘Installation complete’
  11. Press Select to continue and return to the ‘New Install’ menu
  12. Press Sky to return to normal viewing

Wrong viewing card
